Overview

Significantly increasing the capability of our Gladstone Workshop, Berg have invested more than $5million to acquire and house the state-of-the-art Titan SC 40/50-4HY Double Column Vertical Boring & Turning Mill.

Originally produced in Europe to service the nuclear and defence industries, the acquisition of the Titan positions Berg to serve the emerging needs of defence contractors, traditional power providers and hydro-electric power stations in the 5m+ diameter machining space. Of significance, the Titan allows Berg to better service the ever-developing Southern Bowen Basin and the wider mining industry as a whole.

Believed to be the largest machine of its kind in the Central Queensland region, the Titan measures an impressive 17m x 11m x 10m and has a 5m swing diameter and 41 tonne Lathe Chuck. It also has a controlled C-axis and a pusher for turning tool holders and one for mounting SK 50 boring and milling tool holders; with each side equipped with a 12-unit tool magazine. The machine is housed in Bergs’ purpose-built new facility which includes 50t overhead crane and 20m height under crane.
