Since taking the reins from founder Roger Berg, who has built a rapid success story of the manufacturing Engineering company since launching it Fifty-one years ago. Derek Berg has driven the company forward to be a leader in energy transition, defence, and heavy engineering.

Derek’s current focus is on strategic acquisitions, new markets and operations to fuel the growth of the business over the next 15 years.

Berg has seen staff numbers grow to 200 with strategic planning mapped against market research indicating more than double the size of the business by end of FY26.

The development and implementation of strategic plans has been an important part of his previous roles and this experience is invaluable in working with the leadership team to help guide Berg through such a planned phase of growth.

Berg Engineering is on track to exceed targets this financial year and has a strong appetite for further acquisitions, with a continuing course of achieving organic growth of 25% per annum. Derek’s experience in this space will help guide Berg through the challenges that are inevitable in managing a fast growth firm whist maintaining sound risk management.

Derek has plans to on-board more high-profile executive level managers as business units are spun off to be independent profit centres and the company’s culture of fostering excellence is a major drawcard and one that resonates with, he’s own values and leadership style.
