Berg further increases machining capability with state-of-the-art double column machine

Leading Queensland mechanical engineering firm Berg Engineering has acquired its latest machining centre – the Okuma MCR-A5CII 25×40 Double Column 5 Face – significantly increasing its machining capacity, quality and efficiency for heavy industry.

The Japanese-made Okuma has been installed and commissioned at Berg’s Brisbane Facility in Brendale and with the official opening ceremony taking place today. 

The Okuma will provide companies operating in the rail, mining, coal, energy and power generation, defence, ports and water infrastructure sectors with highly efficient and precise component and part manufacture, remanufacturing and refurbishments to support the optimisation of their assets.

Berg CEO Derek Berg said: “This new machine is enhancing our manufacturing capabilities, allowing us to take on more complex projects and improve lead times and cost efficiencies for our clients. 

“It also marks a major step forward in our commitment to supporting the local economy by directly contributing to job creation within the Moreton Bay region and further strengthening the role of advanced manufacturing in our community.”
