17.5 tonnes. 3.5m diameter. A multi-million dollar asset. What looks like a single component is, in fact, a precision repair challenge.
This stator assembly arrived at our facility requiring a damaged segment to be machined out and replaced, without disturbing the existing winding structure. The segment tolerance was critical, and so was the outcome: getting the asset back into service, reliably.
At this scale, small errors don’t stay small. They compound into testing and re-commissioning problems that ultimately shorten service life.
Our focus was on:
- Exact interface machining to the existing segments
- Maintaining winding geometry and alignment
- Controlled tolerances to enable a first-time fit
The result was a repair that integrated back into service seamlessly – tested and performing exactly as intended.
This is where Berg Engineering delivers value: large, complex components where precision directly drives reliability.
