Isaac Bramer wins the GEA Wayne Peachey Memorial Award

Berg’s Gladstone Operations Manager Isaac Bramer receives the GEA Wayne Peachey Memorial Award

Isaac Bramer, Operations Manager at our Gladstone workshop, has been presented with the Wayne Peachey Memorial Award at the Gladstone Engineering Alliance Industry Awards on Wednesday 21 October.

The award honours tenacity, dedication, loyalty and quality service, in memory of Wayne Peachey, the Gladstone engineering business owner who gave more than 20 years as a volunteer skipper with Volunteer Marine Rescue and consistently put others ahead of himself.

Eighteen years, one business

Isaac started at Berg as a welding apprentice in 2008. He qualified as a welder in 2011, earned his International Welding Inspector Diploma in 2015, and came up through Leading Hand, Weld Bay Supervisor, Valve Coordinator and Workshop Manager before taking on Operations Manager in 2025.

Today he leads a team of around 65 people and a workshop with multimillion dollar revenue.

What the customers say

Over the past year, clients have consistently expressed gratitude for the work Isaac has led: critical repairs turned around under pressure, shutdown targets met despite unforeseen work, and solutions developed in our workshop that fixed problems customers had lived with for years. Delivery performance across the same period has been among the strongest the workshop has recorded.

What his team says

Ask his team and they talk about something else. Isaac mentors every apprentice who comes through the Gladstone workshop, and several of the people now leading it came up under him. He has encouraged tradespeople into supervisory roles when they doubted themselves, brought people back to Berg who had moved on, and stood by employees through injury and recovery, from the hospital on the night through to their return to full duties.

Outside work he coaches children’s football, gives his time through his church and helped coordinate our donation drive for St Vincent de Paul in Gladstone.

Patrick Fordyce, Berg CEO said: “Isaac came to us as an apprentice in 2008 and now leads our Gladstone workshop, and in eighteen years he has never stopped putting the people around him first. This award represents exactly the kind of hard work, dedication and commitment our people put in every single day, often without recognition or anyone seeing what goes on behind the scenes. It is a tremendous honour and a thoroughly deserved one. Congratulations Isaac, from everyone at Berg.”

Berg Engineering also received the Safety Excellence Award on the night. Read more here.
